- Adam has extensive experience as a teacher in urban ecology education programs in Chicago. He currently works as a professional Naturalist. He gained his passion and knowledge of ethno-botany through his many years of service to the Native American Community at the American Indian Center of Chicago. During that time, he helped to develop an extensive culturally based science curricula that revolved around traditional uses of plants of the Great Lakes Region. He has facilitated numerous teacher professional development programs focusing on place-based teaching and learning. This work brings teachers and students outside their classrooms to learn and understand science, history, literature, and math from the place that they live. In this work, Chicago neighborhoods become the classroom and both teachers and students learn together in this community-learning environment.
