Hello, my name is Mike Mancini. I am a high school English and Special Education teacher at Wendell Phillips Academy in Bronzeville. In addition to that I am a Reading Specialist as well at Phillips and work with many struggling readers here. After school I also coach football and am the strength and conditioning coordinator at Phillips.
Writing has always been in my blood, but until recently it has been something I haven't committed myself to out of insecurity. My perspective about this creative itch was rather self-defeating. Therefore, my pursuit of this passion was not something I tended to as frequently as I would have liked to. I now am focused on writing, improving my craft and creating stories that reflect my students at Phillips and other folks that I feel are under-represented in literature. -
