  • A shining star of the stage, TV and big screen, the late Best Selling Author and Emmy Award Winning Actor, Joe Alaskey, actually got his start as a writer, back when he was a young boy, by penning his own comedy sketches and theatrical plays for appreciative backyard audiences.
All of this early work writing scripts, served him well in his young adult life, as one of the nation's premier stand-up comics and vocal impressionists, where he wrote his own material nightly. His work as a radio sketch writer, actually paved the way for his Hollywood career, when his talents were discovered by Bill Scott, a renowned actor, now best remembered for his "Rocky and Bullwinkle" fame. Joe Alaskey wrote his own material when he guest starred on NBC's "Late Night With David Letterman" as a featured stand-up comic! He also contributed to "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno."
Over the years, Joe Alaskey would write or ad-lib material for television shows he was involved with, penned "The Wild, Wild West Show" for Six Flags Over Texas Theme Park, and wrote a successful stage play, "1958: A Retrospeculation," which he starred in at "The Steve Allen Theatre" in Hollywood. From time to time, his writing suggestions were woven into the various TV programs he starred in, he even named his own character, Plucky Duck, on "Steven Spielberg Presents Tiny Toon Adventures."
Over the years, Alaskey would pen numerous high quality manuscripts that he sadly filed away in boxes and closets, while he pursued his other equally as impressive performing talents.
Fortunately, Joe Alaskey finally began releasing his brilliant literary masterpieces to the public as printed books and eBooks.
His first book, "That's Still Not All Folks!!" (Bear Manor Media) reached the top of the charts and became an Amazon Best Seller. His second book, "Queasy Street: Volume One - Eleven Tales of Fantasy" (Hash Tag Publishing) went to #5 in its category. His third book, an epic horror novella, "Frater Dementis" is well on its way to developing a devoted following of horror genre fans.
One of the few performers to successfully conquer New York, Chicago and L. A., Joe Alaskey had seen and done it all. Joe Alaskey was honored and proud to have his books published in Chicago by Chicago Writers Association member and Best Selling Author, K.P. Lynne, who served as his Midwest Publicist and his International Social Media Director since late 2009. Chicago Writers Association Members and Best Selling Authors, Rick Kaempfer and David Stern, both served on Joe Alaskey's publicity team, and designed his website www.JoeAlaskey.com, along with K.P. Lynne. David Stern continues to serve as webmaster. Rick Kaempfer has served as one of Joe Alaskey's Media Contacts. Chicago Writers Association Member, R.J. Modell was a co-editor on Joe's books. As per Joe's wishes, K.P. Lynne and R.J. Modell will offer posthumous releases of Joe's unpublished books and plays. He may have been a Native New Yorker, but Joe Alaskey proclaimed until his very last day, that Chicago is "my kind of town" and a "wonderful town for aspiring authors!"
