  • Hi, I was born and raised in San Francisco where my folks were always in the arts. My mom was a professional oil painter and my father was a movie producer of “industrial” films. You could say I’m to the manner born. I graduated from Lowell High School and attended UC Berkeley but then my mother suggested I transfer to UCLA where the drama department fit my personality to a “t.” I became an actress (the first nurse on the original Starsky and Hutch episodic television show) and numerous Spelling/Goldberg productions. I hold a Ph.D. from UCLA in psychology and wrote two one-woman stage shows which were produced by an outlet of Spelling/Goldberg Productions, a Starsky and Hutch screenplay in 1976, and then turned my activities to forensic psychology. It offered fodder for many books and short stories. I have now turned my attention to full-time writing beginning with my first book, a non-fiction entitled ACT IT OUT: 25 Expressive Ways to Heal from Childhood Abuse. It was originally my dissertation but then got published by a niche publisher of psychology books, New Harbinger Publications in Oakland, California and was on their best-selling book list for nine years. My next books were fiction of the comedy/mystery genre: ala Robert Parker (my favorite writer). The first was Counterfeit Lottery, encompassing the crazy antics of my protagonist, Lily Handy, an out of work actress who uses her acting skills to solve mysteries. I received two awards for these books, The “Goodguys” Award in England. I then wrote five fiction crime/comedy novels and one short-story anthology, which have all been published by independent publishers. My short stories appeared in Sherlock Holmes Mystery magazine, and my most recent book, GODDESS OF THE FLOWERS tells the story of what I imagined might have happened to a 15-year-old gangbanger who I counseled in Los Angeles and who, twenty-five years later, became a murderer. She was on the FBI most wanted list, where I saw her on America’s Most Wanted. The week I published this book on Amazon, she was caught in Chiapas, Mexico. But, her identity is hidden enough that this book truly is fictional. I do try to attend book conventions. I live and work in West Hollywood with my husband, a retired oncologist, and am active in the writing community there regularly attending Thrillerfest, Bouchercon and other conventions. I am very excited to be a part of this group.
