O'Rourke and fellow Illinoisans Ernest Hemingway and Mike Royko among his heroes in prose. As a writer and opinion monger himself, Dennis grinds out fulminations, fictions, rants and reasonings based on truth, logic, emotion and humor, not necessarily in that order.
