- Retiring pediatric ophthalmologist Marilyn Mets MD has been administering medical and surgical care to the eyes of the children of Chicago for the past several decades during which time she has been considered a Top Doctor by multiple agencies. A professor at Northwestern’s Feinberg School of Medicine, and the Division Head at Lurie Childrens’ Hospital for 20 years, she has published over 110 peer reviewed papers in the medical literature. She has served for eight years as a Director of the American Board of Ophthalmology, the third woman since its inception in 1916, and as the fourth woman president in the 157-year history of the American Ophthalmological Society. Over the last six months, she has written the first draft of her first novel.
