- Rose Campasano
- I have spent my career writing all sorts of fiction, although in the business world they call it Request For Proposal Responses, Training and Education material, Department News Letters; etc. Several years ago, I took a writing class with my husband and sister to encourage them (and make them look absolutely amazing as I am so bad at actual story writing). All the students were in the middle of writing books of their own (well, all but one student). The Instructor had everyone furthering their manuscripts by writing "chapters and scenes". Since I could not share my latest and most riveting Technical New Letter, I created a cast of characters using the other students as my inspiration, a plot that pulled the people in the room into the story, and I simply wrote segments, each leaving the class to wonder; "What in the world will be next?!" The class ended, I stored the characters and the idea for the plot on a flash drive, and wished my imaginative new friends all the best as they hid in my desk drawer of flash drives containing all that other "fiction" I wrote over the years. Here I am almost 8 years later, hearing voices late at night from my flash drive drawer. "Am I dead yet?" "What happened to my ax?" "Am I the mouse today or the tiger" "Can you please put all this together so we know how our lives turn out?" My 2 am brain responds with; "I guess I owe them that much!"
