A former businessman and consultant over a decade ago Patrick discovered a new focus and fascination for Chicago's bridges that lead to his first book Chicago River Bridges. This heavily researched history and photographic guide to Chicago's bridges was published in October 2013 by the University of Illinois Press. The book is a companion to the documentary Chicago Drawbridges he and director Stephen Hatch co-produced and has been broadcast on Chicago and Milwaukee Public Television.
Patrick is now working on the PTM Werks Series of children's picture books illustrated by Johanna Kim and begins with the first book Drawbridges Open & Close which will be available in early Summer 2014.
